6230 DESIGN OF ENGINEERED WOOD STRUCTURES
The goal of this course is to provide knowledge
of structural loads and deflection criteria; sawn
lumber and engineered wood components; analysis
and design of wood beams, columns, tension members,
and beam-columns; analysis and design of wood mechanical
connections, analysis and design of metal plate
connected wood trusses, shear walls, and diaphragms,
timber bridges and post frame construction. Many
of the homework assignments in this class will involve
the solar house.
