Seminar. Students study aspects of architectural
design, such as form, space, style, meaning, perception
and culture.

3020 THIRD YEAR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO
Students examine the process of making architecture
through critical inquiry and investigation. They
study the physical, social, and ethical contexts
that inform the design of every building with an
additional emphasis on the integration of construction
tectonics in the development of architectural form.

4020 FOURTH YEAR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDIO
This course focuses on architectural design in the
community, which includes the development of team-based
design proposals. Based in the School pf Architecture’s
Birmingham Center, lectures focus on issues of urban
planning and design. These issues include social,
material, and aesthetic development, and their artifacts.

3500 SEMINAR: METHODS AND PROCESSES
This seminar educates students about the tools and
techniques available to the design professional,
including specific design specializations and design
methodologies.

ELECTIVE -- EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING SEMINAR
Architecture students make production drawings for
special projects and participate in construction.
PROFESSIONAL
ELECTIVE -- RESEARCH AND PRELIMINARY DESIGN
Architecture students conduct relevant research
and draw preliminary designs during the initial
planning stage for special project.
